Religious heads of various Christian denominations and members of the Andhra Pradesh Christian Welfare Association (APCWA) gathered here on Monday and offered prayers for the development of Navyandhra.

Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu, who attended the programme organised by the APCWA, called on the Christian fraternity to pray for the development of the State which had been facing difficulties since bifurcation and for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who was working hard for the sake of the people of the State.

“The Chief Minister has been overcoming all the hurdles and is laying a strong foundation for the State. Christians coming forward to support such a Chief Minister is a good sign,” he said.

Calling on the members of the community to excel in all areas, Mr. Kishore Babu said, “I was told by our friends [religious heads] that today according to unofficial figures there are 20 to 30% Christians in the 13 districts which means about 90 lakh of the total population of five crore. The word of God is spreading and is being heard everywhere and if this continues, it won’t take long I think for this State to become a land of Christ.”

“If you all pray for this State impossible will become possible,” he said emphasising the importance of prayer.

Mr. Kishore also called on the members of the community to participate in politics and fight evil that affected society.

He later thanked the religious heads for conducting the programme.

Love-N-Care Ministries, Rev. Dr. P. Yesupadam, Life Changing Revival Centre, Vizag, P.J. Stephen Paul, and pastors and bishops offered prayers.

Some Ministers who were expected at the programme failed to turn up.
