Speakers at the inaugural of the two-day ‘Srujanotsav’, a literary and cultural festival organised by the P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science, stressed the need for acquiring multiple skills, even as students from various places in the State braved bandh-related risks to arrive and participate in several events.
While some students from Telangana region enquired about the situation and dropped out, others from the same region ventured out and reached the city safely. The host institution offered all support to encourage them and provided facilities for their security during their stay here.
Despite the on-going bandh, nearly 600 students from different colleges came to take part in the activities. College principal N. Satyanarayana said that many students came from Tirupati, Anantapur and several other places in Rayalaseema and Telangana regions and arrangements were made for their stay.
Contests held
As part of a tradition, the students of the host institution are not participating in any of the competitions and are fully involved in organising and welcoming the participants from other colleges. Personality development, singing, literary and other competitions were held on the first day. Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education secretary N. Venkateswarlu, participating as chief guest, underscored the importance of getting equipped well to face the increasing competition outside. He cautioned the students against harbouring any complacency in preparing for the future situation and be careful in planning for their careers right from the college days itself by listening to the best kind of advice from teachers and elders. Siddhartha Academy president S.V. Vishunvardhana Rao called upon the students to pursue the skills in the areas where they were strong and where they would like to find their future careers. An interest and passion would help the young generation to give their best in the lives for the betterment of society and the country, he added.
The valedictory on Saturday evening is expected to be attended by film producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja, actor Kalyani, film directors Suryakiran, Viswanath Kasi and music director K.M. Radhakrishnan.
