The two-day camp organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to speed up the applications pertaining to citizenship and Long Term Visas (LTVs) from Pakistan concluded here on Thursday.
FCRA Director Deba Prasad Tripathy, who attended the camp, said that the officials received only one application from Waheedunnissa, a resident of Labbipet in the city. She applied for Indian citizenship nine years ago and her plea has been pending since then.
Pakistani national
submits application
The woman married a Pakistani national in 1996 and went to her in-law’s house there. Due to some problems, she took divorce from her husband and returned to India.
Later, she married another person, and applied for Indian citizenship in Vijayawada in 2006.
Since then she had been doing the rounds around the Collectorate and the Police Commissionerate. But, her plea was not considered due to various reasons.
“I appeared before the MHA camp and submitted the details. Hope I will get citizenship soon,” said Ms. Waheedunnissa.
Mr. Tripathy further said that Waheedunnissa’s application was pending due to poor cooperation from the Pakistan embassy. However, we will speed up the process, he promised.
