15 paediatric cardiac surgeries performed

Andhra Hospitals Managing Director P.V. Ramana Murthy announced the successful completion of heart surgeries on 15 children, sponsored by UK-based charity organisation ‘Healing Little Hearts’.

Addressing media persons on Saturday, Dr. Ramana Murthy said the surgeries were performed by a team of doctors comprising Sandra Gala, Giuseppe Pelella, Annet Davis, Alwin Siby, Catherine Howes, Lyndsay Garvey, Paola Mollesse, Vikram Kudumula, Ramana Dhannapuneni and Rajesh Pathak at Andhra Hospitals’ Heart and Brain Institute between February 29 and March 4. The doctors came from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The UK children cardiac team performed 17 surgeries between November 29 and December 4 last year. The Andhra Hospitals’ paediatric intensive care team was led by Dr. P.V. Rama Rao.
