CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu wrote a letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, urging him to take necessary steps to provide rations on ration cards instead of e-PoS introduced by the government recently.

The CPI(M) leader, in the letter on Tuesday, said that internet connectivity was the biggest problem in many villages in the State. The beneficiaries were not getting their ration/quota for various reasons, including non-recognition of fingerprints.

The village VRO would have to authorise to take ration if the fingerprint was not recognised. It was not being implemented in a desired fashion. As online payment was made mandatory in districts like Krishna, daily wage labourers were making rounds of banks and ration shops, he alleged.

Mr. Madhu said there were many mistakes in the newly issued ration cards also. So the government would have to correct the anomalies in e-PoS system, online payments. The government should continue the old system until these anomalies were rectified, he said.
