‘Crorepati’ official under ACB scanner

Commercial Taxes Department Deputy Commissioner S. Sekhar of Vijayawada has been found possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs.1. 5 crore during the simultaneous raids by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) teams led by the Central Investigation Unit on Thursday. Ten teams of officials conducted raids on the properties of Mr. Sekhar in Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakahapatnam and Rajamahendravaram.

After going through the documents related to immovable properties and other valuables like gold ornaments, ACB officials confirmed that the officer had unaccountable properties worth at least Rs. 1. 5 crore registered in his wife’s name.

ACB DSP of CIU A. Rama Devi told The Hindu that the officer’s properties include about one kg of gold ornaments, a G+3 commercial complex in Vizag, a flat in Vijayawada, a site in Boghapuram and others.

Arrest after probe

“We are still going through the documents collected during raids. As of now we found properties worth Rs. 1.5 crore as disproportionate assets. Arrest will be made once investigation is completed,” Ms. Rama Devi said.
