Youth murdered due to suspected enmity

A 20-year-old youth was found brutally murdered on an open ground near the Anna statue in Chinthamani area in Madurai on Monday.

Police identified the deceased, whose body bore multiple injuries, as D.Pandi Muni, an employee at a video shop in Chinthamani.

The victim’s throat was slashed and he bore stab wounds in the stomach .

A knife and an ATM card were seized from the crime scene, police sources said adding that the identity of the victim was established through the ATM card. Previous enmity is suspected to be the murder motive.

The sources said Pandi Muni was out on bail in an attempt to murder case booked against him in Tirupparankundram police station in Madurai district a few months ago.

Senior police officers inspected the scene of crime where a sniffer dog was brought to track the route taken by the killers. The services of fingerprint experts were utilised.

The identity of the killers is yet to be established.

Two special police teams have gone to Madurai as part of the investigation. The Fort Police have registered a case.
