Woman’s death triggers protest

The death of a 35-year-old woman of Keezhnanjilnadu near Mayiladuthurai on Monday after a bout of fever triggered a protest by relatives. The protesters blocked the Mayiladuthurai-Tharangambadi road complaining that the local body's ‘inaction’ in preventing spread of fever had resulted in the death of Sathyadevi, a school teacher.

Health department officials said it was not a case of dengue.

Complications arising out of cardiac issues was the cause of death, the officials said.
