A 35-year-old woman who recently alleged that an Inspector raped her gave some anxious moments to the police, sitting in front of the City Police Office here on Wednesday seeking action against him.
T. Parimala (35), on whose complaint a rape case was registered against Inspector Murugesan, came to the City Police Office with a petition to meet the Commissioner of Police Sanjay Mathur.
Ms.Parimala stated that the Cantonment All Women Police station had filed an FIR against Inspector Murugesan based on her complaint in which she alleged that the Inspector had raped her in her house here a few days ago.
Ms.Parimala alleged that the Inspector and his friend kidnapped her in an autorickshaw when she was undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital last month, but she managed to escape. She had lodged a complaint with the Police Commissioner but no departmental action was taken. Upon handing over the petition to the Commissioner, the woman sat at the entrance of the City Police Office. A women police team headed by Inspector of Cantonment All Women Police station arrived at the spot and persuaded Ms. Parimala to leave.
The Inspector, who had served in the Social Justice and Human Rights unit in City Police, was transferred to the Surandai police station in Tirunelveli district.
