Members of the Hindu Munnani, Tiruchi district, on Sunday staged a demonstration, demanding withdrawal of darshan ticket system in temples.

The demonstration at Chinthamani near Chathram bus stand was led by the outfit’s urban district president Jeevarathinam.

Demanding that the administration of temples be handed over to Hindus, the demonstrators wanted the setting up of a separate board in this connection.

The demonstrators raised slogans, asking the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department to keep off from administering temples as it had failed to recover the property of temples and prevent theft of several idols.

The darshan ticket system was affecting the sanctity of the temples, the demonstrators said.
