The grama sabha meeting on Thursday held at a village in Kottur Union witnessed tense moments after a section of villagers walked out of the meeting.

As soon as the grama sabha at Sozhanganallur village in Puzhuthi Kudi Village Panchayat began, a section of participants urged the presiding officer to include a resolution opposing implementation of the hydrocarbon exploration project in Cauvery delta districts in the agenda.

When officials expressed their inability by pointing out that they could not alter the agenda without concurrence of higher-ups, they staged a walkout.
