Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Vaiko on Sunday exhorted students to sharpen their oratorical skills to fight for their principles and noble causes.

Students should not get bogged down by defeats and challenges in their life. Students had in them innate oratorical skills and they should discover that talent and should strive to sharpen it, Mr.Vaiko said at a function organised to distribute prizes to the winners of a State-level Tamil oratorical contest. The contest on the topic ‘Vaiko in Parliament’ was organised by the MDMK students’ wing here on Sunday. He also launched the website of the party’s youth wing on the occasion.

Mr.Vaiko said speeches of great Dravidian leaders such as Thanthai Periyar and C.N.Annadurai had created an impact on the youth and students who came forward in droves to participate in the anti-Hindi agitations.

He called upon the student community not to feel shy while trying to improve their oratorical skills. “Your oratorical skills would not only help in shaping your personality but would also make you stand apart,” he said.

Mr. Vaiko gave away cash prizes to the winners of the contest. Students from different colleges across the State took part in the contest conducted at the district, zonal, and State levels. A book titled ‘Maanavar Paarvaiyil Vaiko’ was released by the MDMK city secretary A.Malarmannan on the occasion.
