A primary teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Golden Rock township, Tiruchi, and a post-graduate teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Perambalur, are among 10 educators who have received the KVS Regional Incentive Award-2018 of Chennai region.
The award encourages teachers to strive for excellence in academic performance and become pace-setters in school education.
Kalaiselvi of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Golden Rock Workshop, and T. Uma Maheshwari, post-graduate teacher in English, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Perambalur, received the award from Director of JIPMER Rakesh Agarwal, in the presence of G. Mani, Deputy Commissioner, KVS, Regional Office, Chennai, in Puducherry on Monday.
During her 32 years of service in KVS, Ms. Kalaiselvi moulded primary kids through play-way and innovative methods, the citation states.
“In particular, I see through the educational development of children from socio-economic downtrodden background, by attuning my approach to their intellectual capability,” Ms. Kalaiselvi said.
As a guide captain, she involved students in social activities and enabled them inculcate positive personality traits.
As nominees for the award from their schools, Ms. Kalaiselvi and Ms. Uma Maheshwari made powerpoint presentations of their activities, which impressed the selection committee.
Other awardees
The eight other awardees are S. Shanmugam, PGT (Biology), Dharmapuri; Leline S. Theophilus, PGT (Economics), CRPF, Avadi; K.V. Srinivasan, PGT (Physics), No. 1, Tambaram; C. Murugavel, PGT (Physics), No. 1, Pondicherry (shift one); Venkada Krishnan, PGT (Physics), No. 2, Pondicherry; G. Bhuvan Babu, TGT, AFS Avadi; K. Kumar, TGT, No. 1, Pondicherry (Shift one); and Alok Jaiswal, Librarian, Gillnagar. Kalle Venkateswrlu of OCF Avadi was the only awardee in the non-teaching staff category.
The awardees were chosen from 48 schools in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands under the jurisdiction of KVS Chennai Regional Office.
