Forest officials have arrested two persons on the charge of hunting a wild boar at Thiruthiyamalai Ayyampalayam near Pulivalam in the district on Monday.

The accused, Selvaraj and Manohar, used implements to trap the wild boar and killed the animal for its meat.

Based on information, the officials arrested the two and seized knives and other articles besides the meat. They were later sent for remand after a case was registered against them under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Search is on for two others, Ramesh and Kumar, said a senior official.
