Two drivers charred to death

Two drivers of sand and blue metal trucks were charred to death after the vehicles driven by them caught fire in a multiple collision at Manathattai near Kulithalai.

Two drivers of sand and blue metal trucks were charred to death after the vehicles driven by them caught fire in a multiple collision at Manathattai near Kulithalai at early hours on Wednesday.

The names of the victims were given as T. Jegannathan (46) of Thennilai in Karur district and S. Anandakumar (32) of Ondiputhur in Coimbatore district.

The accident occurred when the blue metal laden truck, which was on its way to Nagapattinam from Paramathi, hit an upcoming truck after hitting two more lorries.

Under the impact, the blue meal lorry and a sand laden lorry driven by Anandakumar caught fire in which the front portion of two lorries were totally charred. Both of them died on the spot.

Kulithalai police have filed a case and are investigating.
