Training for the 155 newly recruited members of the Tamil Nadu Special Police Youth Brigade attached to Tiruchi City Police commenced at the Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion – I campus here on Wednesday.
During the four-week long training session, the members would be imparted training on driving, computer operations, law subject and wireless communication.
Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav inaugurated the training after handing over appointment orders to the youth brigade members in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Armed Police, Tiruchi K.P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran. The State government had constituted the youth brigade in every district and police commissionerate to assist the police in various non-policing activities so that the police police personnel could be utilisedin their primary tasks such as maintenance of law and order, and carrying out investigation.
The youth brigade members would get a monthly honorarium of Rs. 7,500 and could avail the canteen facilities available to police personnel.
They would be assigned work such as traffic regulation, delivery of court summonses, crowd regulation, night patrol and driving police vehicles.
