Tiruvanaikoil soaks in float festival

Devotees offered worship to Sri Jambukeswarar and Sri Akilandeswari on the occasion of float festival — “Thai theppam” at Tiruvanaikoil on Wednesday.

11th day

This is the 11th day ritual of the festival which commenced on February 2.

The idols of Lord Siva and Sri Akilandeswari were taken from the sanctum sanctorum to the float at about 6 p.m. and amidst religious fervour, taken by the float around the tank.

Elaborate arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the festival.

M. Pughazehndran, Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Tiruchi, was present.

T. Rathinavelpandian, fit person-cum-joint commissioner, and R. Kanniah, executive officer of the temple, supervised the arrangements for the float festival.
