Tirumala temple honours received

Temple honours from Tirumala – Tirupati Devastanam were received at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on the occasion of ‘Kaisika Ekadasi’ festival on Sunday. The temple honours, among other things, included clothes for Sri Ranganatha and Sri Ranganayaki besides holy umbrellas. Temple authorities, led by P. Jayaraman, Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments who is also the Executive Officer of the temple, received the honours.

Eye donation

A day-long awareness programme on ‘eye donation’ was organised under the joint auspices of District Unit of the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission and District Blindness Control Society at Thuvarankurichi near Marungapuri on Saturday. K.S. Palanisamy, District Collector, who presided over the programme, underlined the importance of eye donation. He said that those interested can register their names for eye donation by dialling 0431-2770040 and 2771465. R. Komagan, District Project Director, Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission and T. Gandhimathi, District Project Manager of the Society, spoke.
