 A large number of devotees witnessed the kumbabhishekam of Sri Amirdha Kadeswarar Temple at Thirukkadavur in Mayiladuthurai district on Sunday and offered worship to Goddess Sri Abirami Amman and Lord Sri Amirdha Kadeshwarar. 

The ‘yagasalai’ pooja commenced in the early hours followed by a procession of the ‘gadams’. The ‘mahakumbabhishekam’ for Sri Vinayagar and Sri Kaala Samharamurthy sannidhis and for the ‘parivaara murthigal’ was held at first. The kumbabhishekam for the ‘vimanam’ of Sri Amirdha Kadeswarar and for the rajagopuram was held followed by the kumbabhishekam for the ‘moolasthanam’.

Prasadams were distributed to the devotees after ‘deeparadhanai’. The mahaabhishekam was held in the evening followed by ‘Thirukalyana vaibhavam.’ The temple belongs to the Thirukailaya Parambarai Dharumai Adheenam. The Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam Sri Ambalavana Desika Paramacharya Swami, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department Commissioner Kumaragurubaran, Mayiladuthurai Collector R. Lalitha, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Thanjavur range, Kayalvizhi, and others participated in the holy event.
