Tiruchi district toppers prefer to be doctors

All the four students who secured first rank in the district have expressed a desire to pursue medicine as their future profession.

All the four are girls and have secured 498 marks out of 500.

The students are Lavanya.M (Vivekananda Matriculation School, Dalmiapuram), Nuzhath Khanam.M and Soundarya.M (SRV Matriculation HSS, Samayapuram) and Shimreeth Hannah.S (Vimala Matriculation HSS, Thuraiyur).

Lavanya, daughter of P. Manivel, an engineer in Dalmiapuram and Sharmila. She said that she wishes to pursue medicine and take up gynaecology.

She attributes her success to study session in the early morning and evening for three hours. “I owe my success to support from my family and teachers,” she said. Nuzhath Khanam, daughter of Mehboob Ali Khan, a sub-judge at Paramakudi and Sultana, a housewife.

She aims to become an oncologist.

“My grandmother died of cancer last year and at that time I made up my mind to study oncology so that I can save many cancer patients’ lives,” she said.

She attributes her success to regular systematic preparation, taking a mock tests in school and answering previous years’ question papers.

Shimreeth Hannah, daughter of Sheikh and Stella, both school teachers, wishes to become a Neurologist.

“It is my father’s dream that I must become a doctor and I want to make him proud,” she said.

Regarding her preparation, she said that she did not get stressed much and took a relaxed approach, but studied regularly.

Soundarya, daughter of S. Marisundar, a bank appraiser and Ramani, a housewife, said she wants to become a doctor, and serve the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. She attributed her success to three hours of early morning studying, followed by intensive coaching in school.
