Three persons including a mother and her son coming on a two-wheeler were run over by a State Transport Corporation bus on the Tiruchi – Karur national highway at Sirugamani in the late hours on Saturday.
Police gave the names of the victims as S. Manivannan (29), his mother S. Krishnaveni (50) and D. Kalaiselvan (27). The three were coming on a motorcycle to Tiruchi from Manathattai near Kulithalai when the accident occurred. Sources said Manivannan was riding the motorcycle with the other two riding pillion when he apparently lost control near a petrol bunk. In the melee, the three fell on the road when the Tirupur-bound bus from Tiruchi ran over them causing their death on the spot. The Pettavaithalai police have registered a case.
