Uninterrupted power supply will be ensured for four days around the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, said Tiruchi Collector Jayashree Muralidharan.
The Collector’s assurance, which came after her consultation with the officials of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation officials at the meeting, brought about a relief to the temple authorities.
S. Kalyani, Joint Commissioner of the temple, said that power supply should be ensured for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Every time an official started explaining the arrangements to be made by the department which was a repetition of the last year’s procedures, the Collector immediately intervened and advised them to make it more this festival, indicating an unusual congregation this year.
The Collector specifically advised the temple authorities to make arrangements for temporary toilet facility for devotees who would have to wait for a long time for the darshan. “The arrangement should simultaneously take into consideration the physical condition of diabetics and the temple norms,” she said.
The Collector advised the health authorities to organise camps and station ambulances at important places. In consultation with police, the emergency exit should be arranged at places prone for large gathering of devotees.
The Collector directed the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation and the police officials to clear the hoardings hindering the visibility of Rajagopuram. She advised the temple authorities to set up sign boards in different languages for the benefit of the devotees.
The Collector advised Ms. Kalyani to increase the number of LCD screens to enable the people have a glimpse of the religious proceedings. This would ease the congestion.
