Symposium throws light on real-time production engineering scenarios

You need not wait to be part of an industry to witness problems arising in production engineering- a symposium can simulate some real-time situations was a point that ‘Prodigy 2012', the technical symposium organised by the Production Engineering Association of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, tried to prove.

Over 300 students from 25 colleges in Tamil Nadu participated in a line-up of engrossing workshops, lectures and contests, according to a press release issued. A workshop by Mano Kanthanathan, Head, Business Development, FLEXSIM India, provided students with a hands-on-experience in exploiting the features of simulation software-FLEXSIM. ‘Person-ification', a mass interactive personality development program hosted by Ravi Ramanathan, Managing Director of Ramanathan's Effective Public Speaking Institute,Chennai left students with vitals tips on acing their inherent skills.

Quiz

While the techno-management quiz ‘Q and A' tested the technical quotient of students, designing contest ‘Da Vinci' presented students with a challenge to formulate component designs and procedures for a problem statement.

Documentary

A documentary on the Production Engineering Department directed by the students was released. S.Gopinath, GM-Planning Development and Management, BHEL, Trichy inaugurated the event. Srinivasan Sundarrajan-Director, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, S. Kumanan, Head of Department, Production Engineering and S.Vinod, Staff Advisor were present. Navneet Vyas, Chairman of the association, spoke.
