Surveyor held for graft

Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested a surveyor on the charge of demanding and obtaining bribe on Monday.

The accused, Sureshkumar, 43, a surveyor of Navalpattu Firka had allegedly demanded ₹5,000 as bribe for arranging transfer of sub divisional house site patta from Selvam, an employee of BHEL. Selvam owns a house site measuring 1,500 square feet in Cholamadevi village. Unwilling to pay bribe, Selvam lodged a complaint with the DVAC, Tiruchi Unit. A case was registered and DVAC officials arrested Sureshkumar when he got the bribe at his office in Tiruverumbur.

He was later sent for remand, said DVAC sources.
