A private van carrying seven school students fell into a roadside water body causing simple injuries to the occupants on Friday.
The vehicle was proceeding to a private school near the Rettaivaikkal when the accident occurred.
Sources said the van driver apparently tried to give way to another vehicle that came in the opposite direction on the narrow road when he lost control and the van fell into the water body.
Locals came to the rescue of the students who were taken out from the vehicle.
The injured students were treated at a nearby private hospital.
