A group of station masters of Tiruchi railway division took out a silent procession here on Friday in support of their demands.
The procession was organised by the All India Station Masters’ Association, Tiruchi Division, and led by its president M. Rajan.
The station masters had their mouths covered with pieces of black cloth in a symbolic protest.
The station masters wanted the railway administration to forward applications sent by station masters requesting inter-railway transfer.
Forwarding of applications of many station masters were unduly delayed even after obtaining vigilance clearance. The divisional administration cannot refuse to forward any application without valid reason, the association said.
The association wanted the railway administration to accord permission to utilise imprest cash to procure pure packaged drinking water for station masters serving in stations where there was no potable drinking water.
