Spotted deer dies in stray dog attack

Updated - May 14, 2015 05:58 am IST - TIRUCHI:

A two-and-a-half-year old spotted deer died after being bitten by stray dogs at Mathur near here on Wednesday.

The deer chased by stray dogs got stuck in the fence of a farm along the Kumbakudi road in the early morning hours.

The animal sustained severe injuries in the attack. The thorns in the fence too pierced through the deer’s neck.

Villagers chased the stray dogs and informed the police and forest officials about the wounded deer.

By the time the forest team landed at the village, the deer had breathed its last. A post-mortem was done before the carcass was buried in the Narthamalai reserve forest area.
