Snag-hit Air Asia flight leaves after 48 hours

More than 48 hours after an Air Asia flight was grounded at Tiruchi international airport because of a technical snag, the aircraft left on Monday evening only with crew and technical personnel.

Airport sources said that the flight arrived at Tiruchi from Kuala Lumpur on Saturday morning. It was ready to fly back to Kuala Lumpur with passengers on board sometime later. However, the pilot detected a technical snag due to which the flight got grounded.

The passengers were accommodated in the evening flight while the passengers of the evening flight were accommodated in the night flight.

Meanwhile, technical personnel checked the grounded aircraft. The flight finally left on Monday evening only with the crew and technical personnel, the sources said.

A Tiger Airways flight which landed on Sunday morning at Tiruchi from Singapore developed a technical snag reportedly due to bird hit. The passengers were accommodated in a hotel and put in a flight that came to Tiruchi from Singapore after several hours.
