Slight dip in fresh COVID-19 cases

The central districts on Wednesday registered a slight dip in fresh cases of COVID-19 when compared to the previous day. The region reported 2,956 fresh cases and three deaths. Two of the deceased patients hailed from Tiruvarur and one from Tiruchi, according to the bulletin issued by the State Health Department.

While both Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts continued to report a high number of cases, the numbers witnessed a decline on Wednesday. A total of 805 patients reported positive in Thanjavur, while Tiruchi reported 684 cases.

A steep spike was however, reported in Tiruvarur where 345 COVID-19 cases were registered. Pudukottai, meanwhile, reported 293 fresh cases, Karur - 209 and Mayiladuthurai, 207.

Nagapattinam also registered a dip in cases with 171 reported on Wednesday. Ariyalur reported 152 fresh cases, and Perambalur regained its place as the district with the least number of cases in the region with 90 COVID-19 cases.
