Siblings hacked to death by farmer

February 10, 2012 02:21 pm | Updated 02:21 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

Two persons were hacked to death and another injured in an alleged attack by a farmer at Neikulam village near here on Thursday.

Police suspect previous enmity between two families of farmers over the use of water from a common well to their fields to be motive behind the double murder.

On Thursday morning, Ravi (50) had allegedly attacked his neighbours, Mohan (40) and his brother Chandrasekar (38), with an aruval near their field. Both died on the spot.

The elder brother of the victims, Duraisamy (51), who rushed to the spot, was also attacked by Ravi.

The assailant, who was chased by the villagers, was later apprehended at Padalur and handed over to the police. Duraisamy has been admitted to the hospital.

Police are investigating.
