The police have brought commercial hubs in the Fort range under enhanced surveillance to check crimes ahead of the Deepavali festival. They have prepared a detailed security scheme engaging anti-sabotage teams to help shoppers.

As part of the security measure, a special outpost has been established on the NSC Bose road – Nandhikoil junction.

Manned by police personnel, it is equipped with monitors connected to a slew of surveillance cameras to maintain a close watch on the activities taking place at these busy locations.

Seven watchtowers have been put up at vantage points including Nandhi Koil Street – NSCB road junction with constables deployed atop them equipped with binoculars.

A couple of dome cameras have been put up at Nandhi Koil Street – NSCB road junction and at Chinna Kadai Street - Big Bazaar Street junctions to keep a watch on offenders. In addition, closed circuit television cameras have been put up at busy commercial spots including Singarathope, Main Guard gate, Big Bazaar street and Nandhi Koil street. Police said 100 constables attached to crime wing have been deployed at different spots to identify offenders and check property crimes.

These men would be on the rounds in plain clothes. Besides, 500 constables have been posted at important areas as a security measure and anti-sabotage teams have been split into seven teams to carry out periodic checks. Arrangements have been made for parking of two-wheelers and four wheelers in the vicinity of the Main Guard gate including at Yanaikulam ground, Super Bazaar and Teppakulam Bishop Heber School ground.
