26/03/2019:- A group of students of Rajah Serfoji Government College, under the banner of SFI, staged a begging demonstration near the College on Tuesday demanding disbursement of scholarships.

The Students Federation of India on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of Rajah Serfoji Government College in protest against non-distribution of scholarships.

According to SFI district secretary Aravinthasamy, a majority of students who were drawing scholarships in the college had not received financial assistance during the current academic year. Repeated representations to the authorities concerned had failed to evoke any response.

Hence, the “affected” students led by the SFT district secretary staged a demonstration at the college entrance and raised slogans demanding immediate disbursement of scholarship.

An attempt to block traffic on Tiruchi Road was thwarted by police. Subsequently, the students staged a symbolic protest by begging for alms.
