The ‘Sapthasthanam’ festival of Panchanadheeswarar (Aiyarappar) temple, Thiruvaiyaru, began on Sunday with the decorated idol of Sri Aiyarappar leaving the temple along with Sri Nandikeswarar and Suyasayambikai mounted in palanquins.

The glass palanquin carrying Sri Panchanadheewarar and Nandhikeswarar and Suyasayambikai in ‘vetiver’ (cuscus grass root) palanquin were taken to Thirupazhanam, Thiruchottruthurai, Thiruvedhikudi, Thirukandiyur and Thirupoonthurthi villages before reaching Thillaisthanam on Sunday night. Idols of the Siva temples in the five villages en route were also taken in the procession.

After a grand fireworks display at Thillaisthanam Cauvery riverbed, the idol of Thillaisthanam temple mounted in a palanquin would join the procession of Sri Panchanadheeswarar to Thiruvaiyaru on Monday. From there, the other six idols would be taken back to their respective temples, marking the conclusion of ‘Sapthasthanam’ festival.
