Industries should focus on the safety and well being of employees working in their establishments, said B.Alagesan, Additional Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Tiruchi.

Speaking at an interactive session on Factory Laws in Industries organised by the Tiruchi Chapter of the National HRD Network on Friday, Mr. Alagesan said in recent years various amendments have been made in the Factories Act to facilitate better co-existence between employers and employees.

Rules under the Factories Act had also been simplified for the benefit of employees and industries, he said, adding that Industries should understand that human capital was their best asset and should ensure better compliance of the Factories Act in terms of safety and health of employees.

Mr. Alagesan fielded questions on various aspects of the Factories Act and Contract Labour Act, a press release from NHRD said.

A. Ravi, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Tiruchi, and human resource professionals from the Tiruchi region participated. R.John Sekar, president, NHRD, Tiruchi Chapter, and others spoke.
