Safety stewards installed at BHEL, Tiruchi

With a view to preventing accidents, safety stewards were installed at Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP), BHEL, Tiruchi, on Thursday.

At a function organised for installing the 27 batch of stewards, P. Murali, Deputy Director of Boilers, Government of Tamil Nadu, the chief guest, explained the importance of safety in a process plant and the need to work as a team in preventing accidents.

It was possible through safety education, maintaining good housekeeping, correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts as and when they are noticed, he added.

Presiding over, S. Karunakaran, General Manager, SSTP & Civil, BHEL, Tiruchi, called for active participation of all officials, supervisors and employees in safety promotional activities to achieve zero accident in the plant.

Thiruvalluvar, Senior Deputy General Manager, Safety Management, made a presentation about the safety stewardship scheme.

A. Venkatachalapathy, Additional General Manager, Safety Management; and S.Alphonse, Central Safety Committee member, also spoke on the occasion.
