The Railway Protection Special Force V Battalion at Tiruchi is all set to impart eight-month long training to 300 woman constable recruits from November 25.
An order in this regard has been communicated from the Railway Board, New Delhi, to the Battalion, the lone establishment of the Railway Protection Special Force in the Southern Railway zone.
This is for the first time that the Railway Protection Special Force V- Battalion here is to train woman constable recruits on a mass scale on its premises since it started functioning at Tiruchi in 1976, a senior officer of the force said.
Necessary arrangements for conducting the detailed training comprising of indoor and outdoor sessions were being put in place on the battalion premises. A team of trainers would be engaged to train the recruits for which a detailed training module was already in place, the officer said. Railway Protection Special Force authorities have planned to create a help desk at the Tiruchi railway junction to assist the recruits selected from different parts of the country to reach the battalion premises.
A host of subjects would be covered under the indoor session, including crime on railways, security of railways, railway working system, disaster management, law and basics of computer. The outdoor session would cover parade and training in handling different type of arms, including INSAS, AK-47 assault rifle and INSAS.
Upon completion of eight-month training, the recruits would be sent for two-month field training by attaching each one of them with the Railway Protection Force Posts functioning over the Southern Railway zone.
The Railway Protection Special Force V- Battalion at Tiruchi is one among the 16 battalions in the country.
The battalion has six companies which have been deployed at different places, including Erode and Bengaluru and Chennai. One company has been stationed at Tiruchi. As many as 400 woman constable recruits are already undergoing training separately at the Railway Protection Force Zonal Training Centre at Tiruchi.
