RPF Southern Railway team shoots to gold

Railway Protection Force (RPF) Southern Railway team bagged seven gold medals and secured overall second position at the All India RPF shooting competition held at Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh recently. The contest conducted between December 10 and 13 saw the participation of RPF personnel from 16 railway zones from across the country.

In all, 15 RPF personnel representing the Southern Railway team took part in the competition that featured events in pistol, revolver, carbine, INSAS, and 7.62 mm bolt action rifle shooting. The Southern Railway team bagged 13 medals – seven gold, three silvers and three bronze - to emerge overall second.

Head constable L. Balaji attached to RPF Zonal Training Centre, Tiruchi, and constable D. Sivakumar from Chennai received the best shooter awards. Mr. Balaji bagged two gold medals in rifle shooting event, while Mr. Sivakumar won gold medals in carbine and INSAS snap shooting. Seven RPF personnel from Southern Railway were selected to participate in the All India Police Duty meet scheduled for February, a release here said.
