“Return banned noodles to manufacturers”

June 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - TIRUCHI:

The district administration has directed all traders to return stocks of the banned noodles to the respective manufacturers immediately. In a statement issued here, Collector K.S.Palanisamy said the State government has banned manufacture, stocking and sale of Maggi and three other noodle brands — Wai Wai Xpress Noodles, Reliance Select Instant Noodles and Smith and Jones Chicken Masala Noodles — for three months. All available stocks should be returned to the manufacturer through the distributors concerned.

If any shop was found selling the banned noodle brands, action would be initiated against them under Food Safety and Standards Act. Complaints, if any regarding the sale of the banned noodles, can be lodged with the Designated Food Safety Officer either in person or over the telephone by dialing 2333330. Besides, hotels, eateries, marriage halls and hostels should not use the banned products, he said.
