Remand prisoner dies

A remand prisoner died while being taken to the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Headquarters Hospital here on Friday. He is said to have complained of chest pain. The prisoner M.Ganesan (45), hailing from Melanariyappanur in Villupuram district, was arrested in connection with a robbery case by the Kaikalathur police in Perambalur district on Friday. He was being taken to the Central Prison here when he complained of chest pain midway, the police said. He was immediately taken to the Government Hospital, but he died on the way.
