Rallies and meetings mark May Day

Rallies and meetings marked the May Day celebrations here on Tuesday. The Anna Trade Union, affiliated to the AIADMK, organised a rally from MGR statue near Marakkadai to Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, depot near Kohinoor Theatre.

The rally was inaugurated by Tiruchi Member of Parliament P. Kumar in which Chief Whip R. Manoharan, party MLAs and functionaries besides union members took part.

A rally was organised by the same union at Tiruverambur on the city’s outskirts.

The Left-backed CITU and AITUC trade unions organised a rally from Gandhi Market to Sarukkuparai in the evening.

The Makkal Kalai Ilakiya Kazhagam took out a rally from Gandhi Market to Chathram bus stand.
