Quaid-e-Milleth Nagar residents voice protest against unauthorised construction

Residents of Quaid-e-Milleth Nagar in Ariyamangalam have urged the district administration to check the encroachment and unauthorised construction of civil structures right below transmission lines in the area.

The residents complained that an industrialist had encroached a few acres of poramboke land in the area and created hindrances on the pathway to the main road to Ariyamangalam bypass road. “We were shocked when the encroacher started constructing civil structures under the power transmission lines,” said M.Mubarak Ali and K.Pandithurai, who led a group of residents to the collector office to submit a petition at the weekly grievances day meeting on Monday.

“We were waiting for the lifting of model code of conduct,” said A.Padmavathy, a resident. A cement road constructed in the area could not be extended as the encroacher had closed the pathway by constructing a compound wall, she said. A.Sardar (28) a driver of the area, pointed out that district administration should take immediate steps for clearing the encroachments and restore the pathway to the residents by demolishing the compound.

M.Anbuselvi, ward councillor, pointed out that she had taken up the matter with authorities and steps had been taken to survey the site and ascertain whether necessary approval had been granted for the construction of civil structures.
