Girls fared better than boys in the Plus Two examinations held in March this year. A total of 14,855 candidates – 6,538 boys and 8,317 girls appeared for the examination. Of them, 11,790 students – 4,810 boys and 6,980 girls – emerged successful. The district registered a pass percentage of 79.37 per cent. While the pass percentage for boys was 73.57 per cent, the girls registered a pass percentage of 83.92 per cent.
P.Lakshmipriya of Mount Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School who got 1,182 marks secured the first rank. Two students from the Vairam Matriculation Higher Secondary School got the district-level second and third ranks. While I.Priyanka got 1,180 marks, B.Navin Krishna got 1,177 marks.
The District Collector, A.Suganthi, congratulated the toppers on their achievement and gave away books.
Addressing presspersons, D.Hariharan, Chief Educational Officer, said that the pass percentage for the Aranthangi education district was 78.10 per cent and the Pudukottai education district was 80.57 per cent.
