District Election Officer S. Sivarasu said that public holiday had been declared for all government and private companies on April 18.
In a statement, he said that the government had declared paid holiday on April 18 for all employees, enabling them to exercise their democratic right. All private companies should fully comply with the order. Action will be taken against those failing to pay to the employees after closing their units, the statement said.
