Primary health centre inaugurated

A primary health centre was inaugurated at Avikalapatti village in Oothukuzhi village panchayat in Marungapuri panchayat union on Sunday. The primary health centre was a felt need of the residents of the village as well as those in the nearby hamlets.

C. Vijaya Baskar, Minister for Health, who declared open the centre, said that this was the 212th primary health centre in the State. The State government had sanctioned six primary health centres for the Manapparai Assembly constituency in the last six years.

Additional centres would be opened based on demand for healthcare facilities, he said.

A new building for the centre would be built at an estimate of ₹ 65 lakh and medical and para-medical personnel appointed soon.

Explaining the achievements of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme, Mr. Vijaya Baskar said that 1,272 doctors and 9,990 nurses had been appointed so far across the State.

Vellamandi N. Natarajan, C. Valarmathi, Ministers, and K. S. Palanisamy, Collector spoke. Samsath Begum, Joint Director of Health and Rural Services, presented a report.
