A postgraduate medical student of K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College was found dead in the hostel on Friday night.

According to sources, P. Kayalvizhi, 31, a third-year PG student, of Ambujavallipattai near Srimushnam in Cuddalore district, did not report for duty at the GH on Friday night even after 10 p.m.

On suspicion, fellow students and hostel staff members checked her room in the hostel at Periya Milaguparai, where she was reportedly found hanging.

On information, the Cantonment police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for postmortem. Kayalvizhi was married to Sasi Ganesh of Salem, about a month ago, where he was pursuing a postgraduate medicine course.

Meanwhile, Ponnivalavan, father of Kayalvizhi, lodged a complaint with the police, alleging foul play in the death.
