Passport office introduces appointment system for enquiries

The Regional Passport Office in Tiruchi has introduced an online appointment system for applicants visiting the office in person for enquiries about their pending passport applications.

Applicants can schedule their appointment online for any enquiry with regard to passport services from July 22, R. Anand, Passport Officer, Tiruchi, announced on Thursday.

He pointed out that till now appointments were not provided for applicants who were required to approach the Passport Office for enquiries with respect to the pending passport applications. The new system to offer prior appointments would offer convenience and ensure transparency. This would avert the need for applicants to wait at the office needlessly, Mr. Anand said.

Applicants can directly book their appointment through the website www.passportindia.gov.in to meet the Public Grievance Officer at the office located at Marakkadai in Tiruchi. Applicants who cannot book online appointments, can continue to directly approach the office between 9.30 a.m. and noon on all working days, he added.

In addition to the above, a 24 x7 helpline which can be accessed through the toll free number 1800-258-1800 is available for general enquiry, application status, police verification status and tracking of applications. Besides, enquiries can also be made over the phone by dialling 0431-2707203/2707404 or through Whatsapp at 7598507203 or email: rpo.trichy@mea.gov.in
