The district administration has warned political parties and candidates against bribing voters in the form of cash or gifts in the wake of Lok Sabha elections.

In an administration release, candidates, party workers, and voters are warned against distributing gifts or cash or receiving gifts and cash. Those found in violation of this would be booked under Section 171 B of the IPC. The violation under this section was punishable with one year imprisonment or fine or both.

According to the release, flying squads were engaged in round-the-clock vigilance. Any information on the issue of bribe or hoarding of cash or gifts for the purpose of distribution to voters should be alerted to the complaints cell over toll free number 1950. The complainants’ identity should be protected, the release said.
