Over 5,000 candidates write SI exam

As many as 5,021 candidates appeared for the written examinations held here for the recruitment of police sub-inspectors conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB).

The examinations were held in four centres in Tiruchi district. Out of 5,942 candidates, who were given hall tickets for the examinations, 921 candidates failed to turn up. They were frisked before being allowed into the examination halls. No one was allowed to carry electronic gadgets including mobile phone inside the examination halls.

N.K. Senthamarai Kannan, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajeswari, Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi, supervised the examinations.

The examinations for the candidates, who are in police service, will be held on Sunday.

About 524 candidates are expected to take part in the examinations, for which arrangements have been made in two centres such as M.A.M. College of Engineering and K. Ramakrishnan College of Technology.

In Karur, 1,290 candidates took the written examinations. As many as 238 candidates were absent. Permission had been given for 174 departmental candidates to sit for the examinations on Sunday.
