Over 2,500 liquor bottles burgled from TASMAC shop

Unknown persons broke open a TASMAC liquor shop at Konappampatti near Thathiangerpet and stole 2,544 liquor bottles. The offence was committed between the late hours on Monday and the early hours on Tuesday.

The crime came to light after a local villager informed the shop employees over telephone on Tuesday morning. Police sources said unknown culprits gained entry into the shop by breaking the front side grill and the door lock and made away with 2,544 brandy bottles estimated at Rs. 2.90 lakh.

On receipt of information, senior police officers inspected the scene of crime and conducted inquiries. The Thathiengarpet police have registered a case on a complaint from the shop salesman P. Saravanan Sources said two special police teams had been constituted to nab the culprits and recover stolen property.
