Only two colleges in central region have 100% admission

A private college in Karur and a government college in Tiruchi are the only two institutions in the central districts to figure among 13 engineering institutions with 100% admissions after the fourth round of TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) 2019 counselling of Anna University.

V.S.B. Engineering College, Karur, is the only private institution in the Central region of the State where all 598 seats have been filled. Likewise, the only government institution in the central region where all seats have been filled is the Government College of Engineering, Sethurapatti (291 seats).

These two institutions figure among eleven other engineering colleges with cent percent admissions in the rest of the State including Alagappa Chettiyar Government College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous) (405 seats), Karaikudi; Anna University Regional Campus - Coimbatore (239), Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi (34); and Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, Guindy (119).

Two other institutions in the central districts with impressive admission figures constitute Government College of Engineering at Sengipatti in Thanjavur district (282 out of 292 seats, 96.58%), and University College of Engineering, BIT Campus, Anna University, where 993 out of 1080 seats have been filled, accounting for 91.91 %), as per the figures made available by Department of Technical Education (DOTE) prior to the supplementary counselling for which the registration process was carried out from July 20 to 24.

Placement, infrastructure, and pass percentage published by Anna University were factors that determined the choice of colleges, T. Senthilkumar, Professor and Dean, BIT Campus, Anna University, said.

Out of 1,67,101 seats, 76,364 seats, accounting for only 45.70%, he added.
